Installing the Spectra System
Environmental Requirements
The Spectra system requires 115 volts A.C., 50/60 Hz, 8 ampere service
(100, 220, or 240 volts, 50/60 Hz in some areas outside the U.S.).
Maximum power consumption is 1000 watts. If you have any questions
concerning the condition of the wiring, or whether it is grounded or not,
have the wiring checked by a qualified electrician. See Chapter 13,
“Specifications,” for more information regarding electrical requirements.
Packing List
Ensure the Spectra system includes the following items:

Electrical Connection and System Placement
Connect the Spectra system to a properly installed, three-wire, grounded
electrical receptacle, which is protected by an approved branch circuit
overcurrent protection/disconnection device. The branch circuit
protection/disconnection device must be located remote from but close
enough to the system so that the system can be readily disconnected
from the power main should the centrifuge malfunction.
The Spectra system is caster-mounted and portable. Position the system
on a smooth level floor in the operating location and lock the casters.
Establish a safety boundary of at least 30 centimeters (11.8 in) around
the perimeter of the system from all points within which no hazardous
material is permitted. When the centrifuge is spinning, limit access
inside the boundary to necessary individuals.
Return Flow Controller
Packing List
Ensure the Return Flow Controller includes all the following items:
•
Return Flow Controller
•
Two Single-Needle sets (for modifying TPE disposable tubing sets)
for Single-Needle TPE procedure. Each set includes
–
One Single-Needle bag
–
One “Y” connector
Return Flow Controller Installation
Clamp the Return Flow Controller to the top horizontal segment or one
of the side vertical segments of the IV pole, according to the instructions
that follow. Tools are not required to perform the installation.
Warning:
To reduce the risk of electric shock, DO NOT use
alternate power plugs or adapters that disconnect the green or
green/yellow wire safety ground.
