CHAPTER 5 Main Unit Operator Panel
5.1.3
Mode switch
The three-position mode switch toggles the operation mode among LOCK,
UNLOCK, and MAINTENANCE modes. The operation of the mode switch can be
disabled from the operator panel. The mode descriptions are:
• LOCK
For normal operation, the Mode switch should be set to the LOCK position. The alive
check of the operating system is enabled, so any hang-up in the operating system can
be detected.
In LOCK mode, the Solaris Operating Environment is automatically booted up.
Make sure that no stop time is specified for automatic power control. Otherwise,
break-signal input is invalidated.
• UNLOCK
In UNLOCK mode, the system switches to a software maintenance state. This mode
should be used only for maintenance by trained customer engineers. The alive check
of the operating system is disabled, so no hang-up in the operating system can be
detected.
This mode enables sending the Break signal recognition.
• MAINTENANCE
In MAINTENANCE mode, the system is placed in a hardware maintenance state.
This mode should only be used for maintenance by trained customer engineers. The
alive check of the operating system is disabled, so no hang-up in the operating system
can be detected. This mode enables sending the Break signal recognition.
