Specifications of PCI slots
Some PCI cards are designed to operate only in slots with an input voltage of either
3.3 VDC or 5 VDC. Other PCI cards (universal type) are designed to operate at input
voltages of both 3.3 VDC and 5 VDC. Most PCI cards can operate at a clock
frequency of 33 MHz, but some PCI cards can operate only on a 66 MHz clock.

The columns above indicate the following information:

PCI bus group
The PCI bus group containing the PCI slot.

PCI card width
All PCI slots support a bus width of 64 bits. All PCI slots support either
64-bit or 32-bit PCI cards.
l
PCI clock rate (MHz)
This is the clock frequency of the relevant slot. If a PCI card operable at
both 33 MHz and 66 MHz is inserted into a PCI slot at 33/66 MHz, the
PCI card operates on a 66 MHz clock.
l
Card input voltage
This is the input voltage of the PCI bus of the relevant PCI slot.
- A PCI card operable only at 3.3 VDC will not work when inserted into
a 5 VDC PCI slot but will work in a 3.3 VDC PCI slot.
