Working with the notebook
Indicator Description
Battery indicator
The state of charge of the battery is shown by the battery indicator.
• The indicator is not illuminated: The notebook is switched off.
• The indicator fl ashes red (1 second on/1 second off). Malfunction.
With mains adapter connected:
• The indicator lights up blue: The battery is charged to between 50 % and 100
% of its maximum capacity.
• The indicator lights up orange: The battery is charged to between 13 % and 49
% of its maximum capacity.
• The indicator lights up red: The battery is charged to less than 12 % of its
capacity.
In suspend mode:
• The indicator slowly fl ashes blue (1 second on/5 seconds off): The battery is
charged to between 50 % and 100 % of its maximum capacity.
• The indicator slowly fl ashes orange (1 second on/5 seconds off): The battery is
charged to between 13 % and 49 % of its maximum capacity.
• The indicator slowly fl ashes red (1 second on/5 seconds off): The battery is
charged to less than 12 % of its capacity.

Drive indicator
Drive Indicator
The indicator is illuminated: One of the drives (e.g. hard disk, CD/DVD) is being
accessed.
Num Lock indicator
Indicator NumLock
The indicator is illuminated: The Num key has been pressed. The virtual
numerical keypad is activated. You can output the characters indicated on the
upper right of the keys.
Caps Lock indicator
Indicator CapsLock
The indicator is illuminated: The Caps Lock key has been pressed. All the
characters you type will appear in upper case. In the case of overlay keys, the
character printed on the upper left of the key will appear when that key is pressed.
Scroll Lock indicator

The indicator is illuminated: The key combination

has been pressed. The
effect that this key has varies between applications.
Switching on the notebook
► Open the LCD screen.
Switching on
► Press the ON/OFF switch for about one
second to switch the notebook on.
The power-on indicator is lit.
