3. Terms and Symbols
This section describes the terms and symbols common to all the sections. Terms and
symbols unique to a specific section are described in the Preface to that section.

The following describes the meanings of the symbols at the beginning of sections:
DANGER Indicates there will be an imminent hazard resulting in a death or
serious injury if what is stated is not strictly followed.
WARNING Indicates there will be a potential hazard resulting in a death or
serious injury if what is stated is not strictly followed.
CAUTION Indicates there will be a potential hazard resulting in an injury or
damage to the equipment alone if what is stated is not strictly followed.
INSTRUCTION
Used to alert you to a procedure which, if not strictly followed,
could result in damage to the printer or equipment.
NOTE
Used to draw your attention to a step, procedure and regulation.
REFERENCE
Used to explain technical terms or provide supplementary
information.
PURPOSE Used to explain the purpose of an adjustment.

: Refers you to an appropriate repair procedure.

ADJ
: Refers you to an appropriate adjustment procedure.
・
PL
: Refers you to an appropriate part on the list.
・
Assy
: Abbreviation of "Assembly"
