2.7. RAID
Bus mastering design allows utilization of a RAID (Redundant Array
of Independent Disks)
.
A RAID is a set of two or more hard disks and
a specialized disk controller, which controls the RAID function. Us-
ing a RAID, the user can write and read to more than one disk at the
same time, that is, complete data duplication can be achieved, or, ex-
cess data can be transferred to another disk. The problems of disk
failure are minimized with the use of a RAID.
