Operation Fundamentals
MOTOROLA
Introduction
An emulation system gives the user the tools needed to develop an
embedded MCU application in the most efficient way possible.
This section describes the basic operation of the MMDS. Detail of
specific commands is available in
Command-Line Commands
.
Operation of the MMDS may be divided into four main areas:
•
System Initialization
•
System Information
•
Debug Operation
•
Bus State Analyzer Operation
A start-up script file, described in
Script Commands
on page 66, can be
set up to perform a set of commands automatically each time the MMDS
software is run. This start-up file must have the name STARTUP.05 or
STARTUP.08.
System Initialization
Initializing the MMDS system includes:
•
Initializing the communications baud rate
•
Setting the memory map
•
Initializing the clock speed
•
Loading user software and a symbol table
•
Initializing memory
Each part of initialization and use of the appropriate commands is
discussed here.
