MAINTENANCE
Thorough maintenance is vital to ensure the reliability and durability of the hydraulic
system. The system should therefore be checked at regular intervals.
Maintenance instructions:
Inspect the entire system and not just the damaged component. Start with the
pump and then continue on from there until the entire system has been checked.
Check the oil level and the oil. If the oil is dark or black, it must be replaced. If the
oil is whitish and foaming, it may contain water or air. If so, the system must be
checked more thoroughly and the oil must be replaced.
In the case of new equipment, the oil must be cleaned to 5 microns or
alternatively replaced after 10 operating hours. The oil must then be checked by
qualified personnel after every 500 operating hours.
Every component in the high-pressure system must be checked for leaks, noise
and seals. Components should be replaced as necessary.
The lifetime of the oil halves for every 10°C by which the oil temperature exceeds
60°C. Excessively high temperatures can result in excessive wear on the
components. The temperature must therefore be checked carefully. If it exceeds
60°C, contact the component supplier for an assessment of the circumstances.
Under no circumstances must cotton wool or similar be used for cleaning
purposes.
When changing the oil, the system must always be emptied completely. The filter
must also be replaced and the tank cleaned fully. The new oil should then be
added.
If the machine is to be left standing for up to two months, no special precautions
are necessary, but after longer periods of time, all safety valves must be set to the
minimum and the machine operated for 10 to 15 minutes. The piston rod on the
hydraulic cylinders must be in or be surface-treated with a corrosion-resistant
fluid.
The oil must not be allowed to drip down onto the ground, floor or similar. The oil
must be collected up in a waste oil tray, bucket or similar. It is important that we
protect the environment.
