Adjustment of the grinder
You can adapt the grinder to the degree of roasting of your coffee. We recommend:
dark roast
finer setting
light roast
coarser setting
To adjust the degree of grinding, turn the adjusting rings to the desired position (Fig.1)
You have the following possibilities:
The smaller the dots, the finer the grinding
The larger the dots, the coarser the grinding
The degree of grinding may be adjusted only with the grinder running.

Water hardness setting
Water is heated in the appliance. This leads to limescale during use, which is automatically indicated on
the display. The Unit must be adjusted to the hardness of the water used. Use the test sticks supplied.
1° German hardness corresponds to 1.79° French hardness.
The Unit has 5 hardness levels:

The Unit has been set to level 3 at the factory. You can change the setting. To do this, proceed as
follows:
Switch on the Unit at the ON/OFF button (23).

Press the PROG. button (26) until an acoustic signal is heard.

Press the + button (27) until the following message appears:

Press the PROG. Button (26); an acoustic signal is heard and the set level flashes.
You can set the desired level by pressing the – (28) or + (27) button. To save the setting, press the
PROG. button (26). An acoustic signal is heard.
