Preface
We thank you for the purchase of an OPTIFIX
®
bottle top dispenser. You made
a good choice. With more than 20 years of experience in making dispensers we
guarantee a high standard of product quality and safety. To guarantee quality and
safety of the dispenser for the long term, proper operation and maintenance is
necessary. Therefore please read this operating manual carefully before using the
dispenser and take note of the warning instructions as well as the corresponding
regulations. The pack contains: 1 dispenser (valve block unit with finger guard),
1 discharge tube set (model SAFETY, SAFETY S and HF 1 additional stopper
cap), 1 intake tube, 2 adapters (model BASIC and SOLVENT: made of PP; model
SAFETY, SAFETY S and HF: made of PTFE), 1 operating manual. Please check
this before using the dispenser.
Description of Cross-section Drawing
1. Valve block made of solid PTFE.
2. FIX adaptor with internal thread GL 32 made of PP (2-10 ml) from 30 -500 ml
+ HF: PTFE)
3. Ventilation channel with BASIC, SOLVENT and SAFETY.
3a. Ventilation channel and ventilation valve with SAFETY S and HF.
4. Intake valve with sapphire ball.
5. Discharge valve with sapphire ball.
6. Discharge tube set (consists of: PTFE-discharge tube; support made of
PVDF, 100 ml made of PP, 200 - 500 ml: made of stainless steel; PTFE-
thread nipple; PVDF-screw cap; PP-stopper cap).
7. Finger guard with integrated scale made of PP.
8. Volume fine adjustment screw made of PP.
9. Volume setting system made of PP.
10. Stopper cap made of PP.
11. Glass cylinder, plastic coated with stopper ring.
12. Glass piston, solid PTFE coated, patented; additional seal at the bottom
of the piston with model SAFETY, SAFETY S and HF. Model SOLVENT with
precision glass piston.

I. Safety Instructions
1. Before using the dispenser please read the operating manual carefully
and follow the safety instructions.
This operating manual cannot reasonably
mention all safety risks that might be associated with the use of the dispenser.
It is therefore in the responsibility of the user to consult where necessary
and establish appropriate health and safety practices to determine the
applicability of regulatory limitations prior to use.
2. Observe general notes on hazards and safety regulations, e. g. wear
protective clothing, gloves and glasses.
3. Observe any hazard symbols on reagent bottles.
4. Use only appropriate containers to dispense liquids. If using small bottles,
please use a stand.
5. Always make sure that the discharge tube never points at the user or any
other person.
6. When transporting the dispenser please ensure that the piston is in zero-
position and no liquid is in the cylinder.
