GIRO SYSTEM USE AND MAINTENANCE
Use of the system
•
Having the 600mm (24’’) rear wheels resting on the ground, pull the ring of the system
and the KIT GIRO’s small wheel of 75mm that was fixed horizontally will fall and touch
the ground. If it was necessary, use your foot to complete the rotation and put the wheel
on its vertical position, where it will hold the weight of the wheelchair. This process is
similar to both wheels. At this point, the 600mm wheel will be floating and not touching
the floor.
•
Check that the wheels are perfectly locked in their socket and use the wheelchair with the
small wheels on the ground and the bigger ones (600mm) on the air. You may remove the
600mm rear wheels after checking that the small wheels are perfectly locked. This way,
the wheelchair offers the smallest spin space of the market.
•
To use the 600mm rear wheels again put them back into their position (using their quick
release) if they were removed before. These wheels will be floating. Pull the wheelchair up
from the handle to help you unlock the system and pull the ring of the KIT GIRO. Use your
hand or your foot to push the Giro wheel to its horizontal initial location.
Exclusive use
•
The KIT GIRO can only be used indoor and for short trips, mainly to pass or manoeuvre
on small spaces such as narrow doors, bathrooms, elevators, etc.
•
It is highly recommended to use the KIT GIRO’s brakes when leaving the user stationary.
Maintenance and control
•
Clean on a weekly basis using a wet cloth and, if necessary, neutral soap.
•
Grease the KIT GIRO’s joints periodically using bicycles or sewing machine oil.
•
Check screws and nuts periodically.
•
Mechanical maintenance must be carried out by specialized personal authorised by Forta.
•
If you find any problem on the structure or a bad performance of the KIT GIRO, do not
continue to use it and contact our authorised personal.
•
Always use original spare parts. Warranty will be broken in any other case.
Precautions
•
When removing the 600mm (24’’) rear wheels always make sure that the small KIT
GIRO’s wheels are perfectly locked.
•
Keep the wheelchair as clean as possible as dirt may cause the system to fail.
•
When operating the KIT GIRO, be careful about trappings.
