  1 – Phillips Screwdriver #2

4 – # 10 x 5/8’’ Pan Head Screws

4 – Flat Washers

8 – Large Bumpons

2 – Metal Brackets

2 – Anti-abrasion Film Pads

Installation

1.  Be sure that the hood is clean and dry inside and out.
2.  Install the eight (8) bumpons as shown in

Illustration #1

.

Attention: The bumpons must be installed on the hood not the protector!!!

  If the bumpons are installed

on the protector, they will wear through the paint.

NOTE

: Locate the center of the hood using the tape measure and place the first bumpon as shown in the

illustration.

3.  Open the hood of the vehicle.  Remove and discard the four (4) plastic plugs that retain the hood seal to the hood at the location shown in

Illustration.

Insert the four

(4) square expansion plugs provided into the holes.  The hood seal will be reattached to the hood in step 5.  See

Illustration #1

.

4.  Inset the mounting flange of the protector between hood and the hood seal, and adjust the protector left or right to align the holes in the mounting flange with the

holes in the square expansion plugs.

See Illustration #2.

5.  Place the flat washers onto four (4) #10 x 5/8” sheet metal screws and insert through the holes in the hood seal, through the hole in the protector mounting flange,

and into the square expansion plug.  Be sure that all the components are well seated, and tighten all the screws.

Do not over tighten

.

See Illustration #2.

6.  Peel and fold anti-abrasion film Pads in half over the hood edge of the hood, corresponding with the outer most holes on the underside of the hood, directly below the

outer most holes in the protector. Center the film Pad with the holes.

See Illustration #3.

7.  Install the two (2) Metal Brackets

at the outer most locations over the hood edge, aligning the hole in the bottom leg of the bracket with the round hole in the hood.

Insert a push type retainer through the metal bracket and into the hood.  Ensure leg of the bracket is well seated against the surface of the hood and push the center
pin of the retainer assy to lock it into place.

See Illustration #3.

NOTE: Ensure the metal bracket is fully seated on the hood edge. If needed, this may be accomplished by tapping the “U” shaped section of the bracket with your hand,
or with light object until the bracket is in contact with the edge of the hood.
NOTE:

Engaging the center pin of the “push type retainer” is best accomplished by placing a #2 Philips drive screwdriver into the recess of the center pin. Use a light

force or tap on the end of the screwdriver to seat the pin into the retainer. The retainer can be removed by unthreading the center pin in the conventional manner with a
Philips screwdriver, however initial or subsequent placement is best performed using the “push” method described above.
8.  Align the holes in the protector with the holes in the top of the metal brackets. If necessary adjust position of the Metal Bracket to ensure correct alignment with the

holes in the protector. Ensure the protector is well seated against the metal brackets and insert a push type retainer through the protector into the metal bracket.
Push the center pin of the retainer to lock it into place.

See Illustration #3.

9.  On some vehicles it may be necessary to adjust the hood bumpers and/or latch for proper clearance.
10.

Note: Do not pull on the protector when opening or closing the hood.

Care Instruction
