Pinpoint Test J: One Turn Signal/Hazard Lamp Is Inoperative/Always On
Refer to Wiring Diagrams Cell
90
, Turn Signal/Stop/Hazard Lamps for schematic and connector information.
Normal Operation — Except STX
The smart junction box (SJB) provides voltage to the indicator flasher relay through circuit CBP20 (YE/VT). The indicator flasher relay routes the voltage to the multifunction switch through
circuit CLS42 (VT/BN). When the multifunction switch is placed in the LH or RH TURN position, the multifunction switch routes the voltage to the LH or RH front turn lamps through circuits
CLS41 (GY/YE) and CLS39 (VT/WH), respectively. The multifunction switch also routes the voltage to the LH or RH rear lamps through the existing stoplamp circuitry. Ground for the
indicator flasher relay is provided through circuit GD161 (BK/YE).

PINPOINT TEST J: ONE TURN SIGNAL/HAZARD LAMP IS INOPERATIVE/ALWAYS ON
NOTICE:
Use the correct probe adapter(s) when making measurements. Failure to use the correct probe adapter(s) may damage the connector.
Is the resistance less than 5 ohms?
No
REPAIR the circuit. TEST the system for normal
operation.
I12 CHECK FOR VOLTAGE TO THE MULTIFUNCTION SWITCH
Connect: Indicator Flasher Relay C2047.
Ignition ON.
Measure the voltage between the multifunction switch C202b-2, circuit CLS42 (VT/BN), harness side and ground.
Is the voltage greater than 10 volts?
Yes
INSTALL a new multifunction switch. REFER to
Section 211-05
. TEST the system for normal
operation.
No
INSTALL a new indicator flasher relay. TEST the
system for normal operation.
I13 CHECK FOR CORRECT SJB OPERATION
Disconnect all the SJB connectors.
Check for:
corrosion
damaged pins
pushed-out pins
Connect all the SJB connectors and make sure they seat correctly.
Operate the system and verify the concern is still present.
Is the concern still present?
Yes
INSTALL a new SJB. REFER to
Section 419-10
.
TEST the system for normal operation.
No
The system is operating correctly at this time.
The concern may have been caused by a loose
or corroded connector.
Test Step
Result / Action to Take
J1 CHECK THE STOPLAMPS
Ignition OFF.
Apply and release the brake pedal while observing the rear lamps.
Do the stoplamps operate correctly?
Yes
GO to
J2
.
No
REFER to
Stoplamps
in this section.
J2 DETERMINE IF THE LAMP IS INOPERATIVE OR ALWAYS ON
Ignition ON.
Place the multifunction switch in the LH or RH TURN position while
observing the turn lamp in question.
Is the lamp in question always on?
Yes
GO to
J3
.
No
