retrieve encoding data from the GM/2 and to display the associated graph.  

This graph shows the number of bits encoded at each DMT bin. It is viewed 
and operated in the same manner as the 990 

ADSL Auto-Test

graph. Refer to the 990 Users Guide for details. 

If the GM/2 fails to establish a link with the DSLAM, a communications error 
message is displayed, and the speaker chirps to signal a failure.

To initiate another connection attempt, press 

TEST

 again.

To remove GM/2 power or to reset and re-initialize the modem, press 

BACK

 

from the primary 

Modem Results

 screen. 

This returns you to the 

Main

 menu.   

The GM/2 is powered until the DSL Modem Test program is exited, allowing 
you to conduct subsequent tests without the initial “booting” delay.  

Note 

To conserve 990 battery power, limit the time spent in active mode or 
connect to the external charger while testing.

To ping the network, press the 

Ping 

softkey on the secondary

 screen. Then, do the following:

Network ping test results are displayed.

After a successful connection, the GM/2 can be used to access the Internet 
over the subscriber’s ADSLx line:  

a.

 

Connect the supplied Ethernet cable between the GM/2 ENET jack 
and the Ethernet port of a PC.  

b.

 

Access the web via a standard browser program.
