Running a DSL Modem Test
To run a DSL Modem Test:
1.
Disconnect the subscriber’s ADSLx modem from the line under test.
2.
Connect the GM/2 DSL Test Cord (coiled inside the 990’s Test Lead pouch) to
the subscriber’s line, using either the cable’s RJ11 plug or the Red & Black
(Ring & Tip) test clips.
3.
Turn on the 990.
4.
Select
DSL Modem Test
from the CopperPro 990
Main
menu. Press
Setups
and enable the desired emulation modes.
Note
The default enables all modes.
5.
Press
TEST
.
The primary
Modem Results
screen is displayed. Results fields are blank.
An hourglass (in the lower left corner) indicates that the test is in progress.
The
Modem Status
line in the upper right corner displays the real-time
status of the process:
a.
Power Up
: the 990 is applying power to the GM/2 (
POWER
LED is
on).
b.
Booting
: the GM/2 is booting its operating system.
c.
Connecting
: the GM/2 is training with the far end DSLAM (
SYNC
LED flashes slow, then fast).
d.
Showtime
: the GM/2-DSLAM link is up and statistics are available
for retrieval (
SYNC
LED
is on steady).
e.
Test Completed
: link statistics are displayed (
SYNC
LED is on
steady).
Primary link statistics are available on Page 1 of the
Modem Results
screen
and secondary statistics are listed on Page 2 (to display, use the
More
softkey).
6.
To refresh the
Modem Test
results screen, press
TEST
again.
7.
To change the modem emulation mode(s), press
Setups
. Then, press
TEST
.
The GM/2 will reconnect with the DSLAM in the new mode.
8.
To save both pages of results, press the
Save Results
softkey. Enter the
Cable
,
Pair
, and
Telephone Number
in the appropriate fields.
