Storage Considerations
1.11.1
Long term storage
If the system is to be stored or transported it should be in the TCU container and HCU
box (§ 1.11.3). The system is to be stored at temperatures between
-45
°
C and +70
°
C. If the system is stored for longer than six months it is advisable to
power the system on and perform a functionality check. Check and replace desiccators
after storage if the indication is pink. (See §1.2.4)
1.11.2
Sleeve on the part
The original Certificate shall be attached to the part in a transparent sleeve.
1.11.3
Transport Container
The HCU is delivered in a separate box. The TCU shall be placed with the transport
handles mounted in the transport container.
The HCU box shall be placed in the side compartment of the transport container.
1.12
Operational Performance Considerations
The performance of both the Thermal Imager and daylight TV camera may be affected by
various external factors. This section provides an overview to enable the operator to
distinguish between these factors and take actions to realize the full system potential.
1.12.1
Thermal Imager Considerations
The thermal imager relies on receiving radiated and reflected infrared energy from the
target to produce an image. The quality of the image is directly related to the levels of
energy, referred to as the thermal contrast. Thermal contrast can be affected by a
number of environmental factors that the operator does not have any control over but
must be aware of in order to maximize system potential.
