However safe a child seat is, however well built it is, your child’s safety depends on you
carrying out the following checks before every journey.
Final Checklist
Extract the adult seat belt until fully extended. Then, holding the adult seat belt connector,
feed the belt through the space between the seat shell and base . Insert the adult seat
belt connector into the adult buckle until you hear a click. Ensure the seat belt is not twisted
or obstructed in any way.
Engage the lap belt section with the guides on the base. There are blue markers indicating
the lap belt guides found near the front of the base (
19
).
Now separate the diagonal portion diagonal belt from the lap portion and locate the belt into
the upper belt guides on both sides, which can be found on the back of the seat shell above
the red lock seat belt locks
(20)
.
Again ensure the belt is not twisted.
Now tighten the belt. First tension the lap section of the seat belt by pulling it in the direction
shown on the buckle side of the seat. Then pull the diagonal section of the adult belt to ensure
that it is tight
(21)
. Your car seat should now be fixed securely. Check again that there are no
kinks or twists in the adult seat belt.
Now lock the adult seat belt both diagonal and lap section together adjacent to the adult belt
connector using the blue lock-off clip
(22)
. The clip is secured to the seat with a cord so it
cannot be lost. Pass the clip between the seat shell and base to reach the connector making
sure the cord is not over tensioned.
Do not use the red lock-off for the rearward facing installation.
Have you set the harness correctly and to the correct shoulder height
(4) (5) (6) (7)
.
Ensure the harness straps are not twisted.
Check the harness is set for the clothing and not loose
(14)
.
Check the harness is secure with the buckle and shoulder strap connectors latched
together and harness tension is correct
(10) (11) (12) (14)
.
Check the car seat is facing rearwards in the vehicle
(see rearward facing position)
.
Check the seat belt is fitted correctly using the adult seat belt guides on the base and
the upper guides on the rear of the seat shell
(19) (20) (21) (22)
.
Check the diagonal and lap sections of the adult seat belt are locked together with
the blue seat belt lock adjacent to the adult belt connector
(22)
.
Check the vehicle seat belt is not twisted and tight around your car seat.
The child seat must be in the fully reclined position to assist with installation. Refer to section
“seat reclining” for details of how to recline the seat.
Place the child’s car seat on the passenger seat in the rear of a car making sure the
child seat is facing forwards and in the direction of travel.
