04. System requirements
A free USB port (1.1 or higher) is needed on the computer.
The Software “AVRootloader” by ©Hagen-www.mikrocontroller.net is
used by the OpenCar system to conduct the update. A Windows based
environment is necessary.
The software tool and the CarDecoder firmware can be found in the
respective download area of the CarDecoder or function module on
our webpage.
05. Driver installation
Connect the CarUpdater with the Windows computer. The hardware
recognition starts and installs the matching virtual com port driver
out of the Microsoft driver database automatically. In some cases an
internet connection is needed.
If the driver is installed for the first time it might take a few minutes.
If an automatic driver installation fails, the driver for “FTDI VCP-Drivers”
can be loaded manually from the manufacturers webpage:
