Function
The storage station can differentiate amongst workpieces based on their color and store up to
48 workpieces over 6 levels in 2 rows. The workpiece on the receiving chute is identified based on color with
the help of a combination of sensors, and is stored on one of 6 storage levels.
A Cartesian handling system with stepper motors and robot functions is used to handle the workpieces. A
pneumatic gripper is mounted to a spindle axis with stepper motor. The gripper picks the workpiece from
the holder and places it into the storage area. The storage area can be located either at the beginning
(removal from storage) or at the end (placement into storage) of a production line, or as a buffering station
within a production line, by means of appropriate programming. There’s a chute on the goods issuing side
as well.
9.1
Possible expansions
The storage station can be expanded to include 48 additional storage locations and a conveyor belt instead
of chutes.
9.2
Possible types of control
The station can be controlled via the 24-pin IEEE-488 compatible plug connector using a PLC board, an
I/O simulation box or a software package for the design and simulation of fluid, electric and logic circuits in
conjunction with an external PC interface. The software package makes it possible to control the stations via
simulated relay or logic circuits.
9.3
Store
The storage station detects the colors of arriving workpieces and places them into storage on one of the
6 storage levels depending on color (black, red, sliver or transparent). A sensor detects workpieces in the
holding unit and controls the remaining process steps.
Alternatively, the storage level or the storage color can be specified by means of a bit combination.
