Fitting the PTO shaft
4.4.1 After carrying out the operations described in 4.3, assemble the PTO shaft and
check that the overlap is not less than 2/3 of closed PTO elongation. Be sure to
keep a 4 cm backlash (FIG. 18).
If it needs shortening, proceed as in (FIG. 19).
4.4.2 The guards of the PTO shaft must be fixed to the
flail hedge mower and to the tractor with chains,
to prevent rotation. The minimum overlap of the
guard and the PTO shaft must be less than 5 cm
(FIG. 20).

Tractor stability
The design of the flail hedge mower and the type of work to be carried out, require
tractor stability to prevent tilting or overturning.
The following operations may be carried out to increase tractor stability:
-
Set the tractor at its maximum track width (Fig. 21)
-
Ballast the chassis and/or the front and rear wheels of the tractor on the side
opposite the extended arm (Fig. 22).
-
In extreme cases, and only when working, lock the front axle articulation by fitting
a spacer between the chassis and the axle (Fig. 23).
