Opening the BLUMODULAR filter package
The BLUMODULAR filter package contains:
1 BLUMODULAR filter complete with:
• filter sponges, pump.
• 1 or 2 filter supports.
• 1 spray-bar with cap.
1 BLUMODULAR accessories kit complete with:
• 1 silicone tube with regulator and connector for Venturi
system;
• 1 flow regulator;
• 1 diffuser;
• 6 suction cups.
Check the integrity of all of the components
.
Although Ferplast uses safe packaging and individually
inspects each product, we recommend checking for
accidental damage that can occur during shipping, storage
and sale, which could compromise the product’s initial
characteristics, functionality and safety.

03 filters
Indoor modular filter with adjustable flow, available in 3
different versions (1, 2 or 3 modules) with high filtering
capacity.
• MECHANICAL FILTRATION. Modules containing synthetic
sponges for selective elimination of particles and organic
waste. To remove the module, simply press the two side
tabs and extract it (Fig. C). Other modules can be added to
the modular system, if desired.
• SPRAY-BAR AND VENTURI EFFECT (Fig. E/O). The package
includes a spray-bar that guarantees optimum diffusion
of the discharged water and a Venturi system for
oxygenation.
• DIRECTIONAL NOZZLE (Fig. F). The nozzle can direct the
flow of the water being discharged from the filter with a
range of 0 to 180°.
• PANEL (Fig. N). An innovative system that automatically
closes the water intake grilles to prevent the dirt in the
filter from returning to the tank during maintenance
operations.
Installing the BLUMODULAR filter
Position the BLUMODULAR filter inside the tank as desired (on
the side or the rear). You can use the special supports with the
suction cups. One or two may be inserted at the top or bottom
of the filter (Fig. H). If you have a CAYMAN fish tank, you can
use the special guides on the upper edge of the tank (Fig. I).
If you like, add the accessories:
• diffuser: for directing the flow of water (Fig. D);
• Venturi regulator: for creating bubbles that exit the filter’s
outlet. After attaching the Venturi system connector to
the filter’s outlet (Fig. E), connect the silicone tube and
regulator to the air intake;
• flow regulator: rotate the regulator clockwise to increase
the flow or counter-clockwise to decrease it (Fig. G);
• spray-bar: with relative end cap (Fig. O).
BLUMODULAR is a versatile filter that can be used for various
purposes in any fish tank. It could be used to clean the water
as the main filter in small fish tanks or medium-sized fish
tanks that contain few fish, or as a secondary filter (better if
combined with a bio filter like Ferplast’s line of BLUWAVE bio
filters), with the following filtering materials: BLUCARBON
activated carbon, BLUZEOLITE zeolite, BLUFIBRE synthetic
fiber, resins and other adsorbent or chemical materials.
BLUMODULAR helps keep water clear even in overpopulated
fish tanks. Modules (that may be combined and added at will)
let various materials be used simultaneously, guaranteeing
high power suction and rapid flow. The provided materials
may be replaced as desired. In any case, a large mesh sponge
should be used in the first module (at the bottom) to trap
large particles. The others may be filled as desired. (Be careful
when using especially dense materials like fine Perlon; if it is
too dense, the flow rate could be significantly reduced and/or
the filter could clog easily. These materials should be placed
in the last module at the top under the pump).
Maintaining BLUMODULAR filters
The primary recommended maintenance operations are
shown below:
1 (Fig. L). Rinse all of the mechanical filtration sponges at
least every 2-3 weeks.
2 Replace the mechanical filtration sponges at least every 6
months. Use only original Ferplast spare parts.
3 The adsorbent sponge wears out in 2-3 weeks. We
therefore recommend replacing it, if necessary, with
original spare parts available at specialized stores or
leaving it in the filter with mechanical filtration, taking
care to rinse it every 2-3 weeks. In any case, it must be
changed at least every 6 months.
4 When treating fish with special medications, the
adsorbent sponge must be removed from the filter (to
avoid diminishing their beneficial effects). After this
period, a new sponge should be introduced into the filter.
5 Always keep the filter’s intake grilles clean.
6 (Fig. M) Check the BLUMODULAR filter’s pump at least
every 6 months. Clean as follows, when necessary:
• Disconnect power to the pump.
• Remove the BLUMODULAR filter from the tank.
• Remove the cover by pressing the two side tabs and
extract the rotor. If necessary, replace it with an original
Ferplast spare part.
• Eliminate any lime deposits and impurities using a
soft toothbrush (do not use detergents or chemical
substances).
• Reassemble the unit, following these instructions in
reverse.
Important
:
• If the second or third BLUMODULAR filter is being used
as the main filter, never clean all of the sponges at the
same time. Alternately clean them at least every 15 days
to maintain the bacterial associations that make the filter
biologically active.
• When reassembling the BLUMODULAR filter after
maintenance, make sure that the panels at the bottom of
the filter are properly positioned (Fig. N).
• Use only Ferplast original spare parts to replace the filter’s
components. The use of non-original spare parts annuls
the warranty.
Spare parts and accessories
Every part of the filter can be easily replaced. Spare parts are
available at stores where the filter was purchased. Numerous
Ferplast accessories that are continuously updated, useful for
adapting the filter to all kinds of needs, are also available. To
replace a component and always guarantee your product’s
maximum operation and safety, only original Ferplast spare
parts must be used. The installation of non-original spare
parts annuls the warranty.
