Using the Rescue bag
7. Close the patient body area (Figure 60), the head area (transparent cover) and the foot area of the rescue bag (Figure 61).
Ensure that the head and foot areas are fastened with Velcro.
8. Apply patient straps correctly.

The two torso straps must be crossed.

The leg strap must be applied horizontally.

The foot strap must be applied in a “8” figure.
10. Adjust the safety strap so the patient is not constricted. To adjust the strap see “
Adjusting the straps”
, page 10.
11. Before lifting, check that the whole system (head, body and foot area), is closed correctly, that straps have been applied
and adjusted correctly and that the load distribution on the lifting bridle arms is correct. If you have to use the lifting bridle
shortening system to correctly distribute the load, make sure you use the red loops. To use the lifting bridle shortening
system see paragraph 4.5.1 “
Lifting bridle shortening system
”, page 16.
12. When you have checked everything, made adjustments and checked that the load is distributed correctly on the lifting
bridle arms, you can proceed with the patient rescue.
WARNING
Incorrect use of the straps can cause the patient to
fall and be injured. Always use the restraint straps
as instructed in this manual.
WARNING
Unattended patients may injure themselves. Never
leave a patient in the rescue bag unattended. Always
attend to the patient during rescue operations.
WARNING
Improper use of the rescue bag can cause injury.
Use the rescue bag only as described in this manual.
WARNING
Before any rescue operation, ensure that the load
is evenly distributed on Saerbag lifting bridle arms.
