Halogen Scene Light Model QL97HSCENE
Mounting and Wiring the Model QL97HSCENE
AIRBAG DEPLOYMENT
Do not install equipment or route wiring in the deployment path of an airbag.
Failure to observe this warning will reduce the effectiveness of the airbag or potentially dislodge
the equipment, causing serious injury to you or others.
NOTE: For maximum coverage and effectiveness, each light assembly must be mounted in the horizontal
orientation shown in Figure 1 on page 8.
Before installing the light, read all instructions, determine the approximate location of the light assembly,
and plan all mating connections. Use installer-supplied grommets, wire ties, looms, and cable mounts as
needed to secure and protect the wiring.
To mount the scene light to the vehicle:
1. Select the mounting location for the light. See Figure 1 on page 8 for the locations of the mounting holes.
Note the dimensions of the area to be cut from the mounting location for the light’s reflector clearance.
DRILLING PRECAUTIONS
Before drilling holes, check the area into which you plan to drill to ensure you do not damage
vehicle components while drilling. All drilled holes should be deburred and all sharp edges
should be smoothed. All wires going through drilled holes should be protected by a grommet
or convolute/split-loom tubing.
2. Drill four 1/4" (0.25") mounting holes in the mounting surface.
3. Cut out the area from the mounting surface needed for the reflector clearance.
4. Insert the screw grommets into the four mounting holes.
5. Route the wires from the scene light through the cut-out in the mounting surface toward the power
source.
6. Complete these electrical connections:
REVERSE POLARITY/MISWIRING
Reverse polarity or incorrect voltage may damage the light. To avoid damage to the light, en-
sure that the battery voltage is the same as the voltage rating of the light and that the correct
polarity is observed.
a. Use the supplied connectors and terminals for the power and ground connections to the scene
light as shown in Figure 4 on page 9.
b. Connect the installer-supplied red 18 AWG (minimum) wire from Pin 1 to the positive (+BAT) power
source terminal.
c. Connect the installer-supplied white 18 AWG (minimum) wire from Pin 3 to the negative (–NEG)
power source terminal.
7. Secure the scene light to the mounting surface with the four M 4.2 x 38 screws (Figure 2 with the
mounting gasket on page 8 or Figure 3 with the optional trim ring on page 9).
