3.1. Connection to a live line
•
Connect the test leads to a telephone line which is powered by the CO.
•
Talk and hear with the technician at the other end of the pair under test.
3.2. Connection to a dead line
Make sure that the cable under test is not powered.
•
Connect one of the two test leads to a dead telephone line.
•
Connect the other lead to a power supply box like e.g. AR96, or to a 9
VDC source, as indicated in the following picture.
•
Talk and hear with the technician at the other end of the pair under test
3.3. Connection through IDC contacts at a local exchange (NCP-IDC)
•
Insert the IDC Key into the socket connector
•
Disconnect with the switch the CO side from the end user side
