Inspect all components for excessive wear, loose hardware, damage, cracks,
corrosion, or other defects.
Snap Hook and Carabiners: Ensure connector gates operate freely. Ensure
gates fully close and lock when released.
Web Strap Adjuster: Ensure the Adjuster articulates freely. Operate the Thumb
Release Lever and make sure that the cam contacts the Web Strap.
Web Strap: Inspect the Strap for cuts and excessive wear. Note: This webbing
has an internal wear indicator. If you can see the red inner core, remove from
service and replace the Web Strap.
Rope Adjuster: Ensure the adjuster mechanism operates and locks onto the
rope. Make sure the adjusters slides freely along the rope when unlocked.
Rope: Inspect the full length of rope for excessive wear, broken stitching, or
broken strands on the outer jacket. If the white inner core fibers are exposed,
remove from service and replace the Rope.
Fixed D-ring: Verify that the D-ring is still fixed in place and inspect for cracks
and other wear.
Cleats: Verify that the cleats are securely mounted with no cracks, chips, or
dull edges
All labels must be intact and totally legible (see Section 8).
7.3 Inspection Checklist:
Use Table 1: Guidelines for WPFRD Inspection to inspect the WPFRD.
7.4 Inspection Results:
If an inspection reveals defects in or damage to the equipment, inadequate maintenance or activated
fall indicators, remove the equipment from service. If any component fails inspection, remove from
service immediately. WPFRD’s involved in a fall may be returned to service after passed inspection by a
Competent Person other than the user.
7.5 Inspection Document:
Record inspection results on the Inspection Record provided below or on a similar document.
