4. USING YOUR COFFEEMAKER
FOR THE FIRST TIME
Unpack the coffeemaker and remove the
bag containing the accessories. Before
using for the first time,
• wash the filter-holder (M),
• filter (N),
• measurer (O)
• and steam nozzle (E) with warm water
and non-abrasive detergent and rinse
well. You should also run a pre-wash cycle
in the following way:
Filling the deposit
Remove the deposit (C) (fig. 1). Wash and
rinse well. Fill with cold water and
replace, ensuring that the tube is
completely submerged.
Pre-wash
• Plug the appliance into the mains
following the safety instructions.
• Turn the on/off switch (F ) to ON. The
on/off pilot light (G) and the
temperature OK pilot light (I) will come
on.
• Turn the coffee switch (H) to ON and
then turn it off again when water begins
to filter through (L).
• Wait a few moments for the
temperature OK pilot light to go off,
indicating that the water has reached
the correct temperature.
• Place a recipient under the filter-holder
slot (L) and turn the coffee switch on
again, letting the water run through for
about 20 seconds.
• Place a recipient under the steam
nozzle (E) and when the temperature
OK pilot light goes off, open the steam
• In order to avoid electric shocks, do not
submerge the appliance, cable or plug
in water or any other liquid.
• Do not let children or the handicapped
use the appliance without supervision.
• Unplug the appliance when not in use
and before cleaning. Leave to cool
before handling parts and before
cleaning.
• Do not leave the appliance open to the
elements (rain, sun, frost, etc.).
• Do not use or place any part of this
appliance on or near hot surfaces (gas
or electric hobs, ovens, etc.).
• Do not let the cable hang over the edge
of the surface on which the appliance is
placed.
• Do not touch hot surfaces. Use the
handles or grips provided.
• If the cable becomes damaged, have it
replaced by an authorised Technical
Assistance Service.
• Do not use your appliance if the cable
or plug are damaged, if it is not
working properly or if it is damaged in
any way.
Take it to an authorised Technical
Assistance Service to be examined,
repaired or modified.
• In the event of technical failure or
improper working, switch the machine
off and do not try to repair it. Repairs
should only be carried out by an
authorised Technical Assistance
Service. Always demand the use of
original spare parts.
• If you decide never to use the
appliance again, it is a good idea to cut
the cable, first ensuring that the
appliance is unplugged.
• The appliance is designed to make
coffee and heat liquid. When using the
appliance you should take special care
that the jets of hot water or steam do
not burn your skin.
• Do touch the hot parts of the appliance
(steam/water tube, coffee outlet area in
contact with the filter or filter-holder).
• Do not switch the appliance on if the
water deposit is empty.
• Do not remove the filter-holder when
the appliance is under pressure or
when coffee is being produced.
