5.1 “V” MODE (VOLTMETER MODE)
:
MEASURE A VOLTAGE
Remember : DX.V12A in only designed for 12Volt – 24 Volt automotive circuits. Never use on a
circuit with a higher voltage than 49V.
• Press the V button to select the V mode.
• Connect the test lead to the DX.V12A terminal.
• Connect the test lead to the circuit where you need to
measure the voltage. DX.V12A show the voltage value in
Volt.
Note
: Prefer using crocodile clamps to touch points to have better result.
5.2 “V” MODE (VOLTMETER MODE) : THE LINE TEST
Line test compare the “normal” voltage measure without any charge with the
voltage during a charge. If the difference between the 2 voltages is too
important that mean there is a problem in the line. It can be a connector, a
switch, …. which introduce a serial resistance in the circuit. A line voltage with
serial resistance decrease when a charge is applied (Lamps, fan,…).
•
Measure the voltage as explain in 5.1.
•
When the voltage value is stable press the “Line Test” button.
If the line is good the LCD goes green.
If a default is identified the LCD screen goes red
with
an
alarm.
When press «line test» button, if it hints «hot», means over-temperature.
Please wait for the circuit to cool down before taking another measure.
5.3 “V” MODE (VOLTMETER MODE) : PWM DETECTOR
Some of automotive actuators are driven by PWM signals
(Power Wide Modulation). Most of TURBO discharge, Idle
valve, EGR… are driven by PWM signals.
If the FACOM DX.V12A detect a PWM signal the screen go red a PWM with
logo is show with an alarm. This function is just a indicator. It is useful to find
where is a PWM line in a connector or to avoid mistakes.
5.4 “V” MODE (VOLTMETER MODE) : ERROR MESSAGE
If the DX.V12A is used on higher than 49V volt circuit a error
«ERR» is show with an alarm.
Any voltage up to 49V cannot be measured by the DX.V12A.
6.1 “Ω” MODE (OHMMETER MODE)
:
MEASURE A RESISTANCE
Remember : DX.V12A is able to measure resistance from 0 Ω to 40MΩ.
•
Press the Ω button to select the Ω mode.
•
Connect the test lead to the DX.V12A terminal.
•
Connect the test lead to the components where you need to measure the
resistance. DX.V12A show the resistance in Ω, KΩ, MΩ.
6.2 “Ω” MODE (OHMMETER MODE) : CONTINUITY INDICATOR
If the measured resistance in less than 30Ω the LCD screen go green the
continuity symbol was show with an alarm.
6.3 “Ω” MODE (OHMMETER MODE) : OVER LIMIT ALARM
During resistance measure if the circuit is open or if the resistance is higher
than 40MΩ the LCD screen goes red with an alarm and shows OL. (Over
Limit).
