Terminology
Joystick:
The component housing the speed control, battery gauge,
driving gimbal, charger port, horn, on/off button, acceleration and
deceleration button.
Gimbal:
The small knob on the joystick to allow the user to control
speed and direction of the wheelchair.
Controller:
The electronic device that responds to commands from
the joystick.
Armrests:
Supports for arms during time spent sitting in the power
chair.
Footrest:
Support for feet during time spent sitting in the power
chair
Anti-tip Wheels:
Wheels that prevent excessive rearward tipping
while driving.
Drive Wheel:
Rear wheels that move the power chair.
Caster Wheel:
The front wheels.
Electrical Set Up
1.
Slide joystick mount tube into the receiver on the arm of
choice of the wheelchair and set to desired length. The
joystick gimbal shoud be at a comfortable distance from the
backpost of the wheelchair so the user does not have to
stretch, push their arm out or back to reach it.
2.
Tighten the locking nut.
3.
Connnect electrical cord from the joystick to the cord going
beneath the rear of the wheelchair.
4.
Plug in the left and right motors and the batteries to the
appropriate connectors.
