About the Web-based User Interface
The web-based user interface is used to view, configure, and control the SME 100. This section
details how to access the web-based user interface and install media player software. For more
information on using the web-based user interface, see the
SME 100 User Guide
.
Accessing the Web-based User Interface
Open a web browser (Microsoft
®
Internet Explorer
®
version 7 or
above is recommended) on the control PC or viewing device and type
in the IP address of the SME 100 into the address bar (for example,
http://192.168.254.254). The Live View page appears in the browser
(see figure 1). Proceed to the section below to install the media player
software that is compatible with the SME 100.
Installing Media Player Software
The SME 100 uses a media player plugin to view live streams. The plugin
available in
VLC media player
®
is compatible with the SME 100. Use the
following procedure to install VLC media player. For information on
installing the
QuickTime
®
media player, see the
SME 100 User Guide
.
1.
If necessary, access the web-based user interface of the SME 100
(see the "
Accessing the Web-based User Interface
" section above).
2.
From the Live View page, click the first
here
link (see figure 1). If the link shown in figure 1 does not appear on the
Live View page and a blue player window (with Extron logo) is displayed, it means that a version of VLC media player is
already installed. Verify that the installed VLC media player is version 1.1.10. If version 1.1.10 is not installed, uninstall
VLC media player and repeat this procedure.
NOTE:
A yellow security bar may appear at the top of the browser window after the first
here
link is clicked. If this
happens, click the security bar and click
Download File
, then click the first
here
link again.
3.
A File Download window appears. Click the
Run

Full
installation is selected.
4.
After the VLC media player installation has finished, a reboot of the control PC or viewing device is recommended.
5.
Access the web-based user interface (see the "
Accessing the Web-based User
Interface
" section above). The Live View page should now contain a blue
player window (with Extron logo). Click the
