Press the Next button repeatedly to cycle to the IP address (IP), subnet mask (SM), and  
default gateway (GM) submenus.

4. 

Change the IP address, subnet mask, and default gateway as necessary.  
To configure the addresses:

Cycle to the desired octet by rotating the left Adjust knob (

[

).

 

z

Adjust the value of the octet by rotating the right Adjust knob (

{

).

5. 

Save the network settings by pressing the Menu button. The network settings of the  
SME 100 are now configured.

NOTE:

  If the Edit Comm Settings menu is left inactive for approximately 30 seconds, a 

menu timeout occurs and any changes made within this menu are not saved. The 
Menu button must be pressed to save changes.

About the Web-based User Interface

The web-based user interface is used to view, configure, and control the SME 100. This section 
details how to access the web-based user interface and install media player software. For more  
information on using the web-based user interface, see the 

SME 100 User Guide

.

Accessing the Web-based User Interface

Open a web browser (Microsoft

®

 Internet Explorer

®

 version 7 or 

above is recommended) on the control PC or viewing device and type 
in the IP address of the SME 100 into the address bar (for example, 
http://192.168.254.254). The Live View page appears in the browser 
(see figure 1). Proceed to the section below to install the media player 
software that is compatible with the SME 100.

Installing Media Player Software

The SME 100 uses a media player plugin to view live streams. The plugin 
available in 

VLC media player

®

 is compatible with the SME 100. Use the 

following procedure to install VLC media player. For information on 
installing the 

QuickTime

®

 media player, see the 

SME 100 User Guide

.

1. 

If necessary, access the web-based user interface of the SME 100  
(see the "

Accessing the Web-based User Interface

" section above).

2. 

From the Live View page, click the first 

here

 link (see figure 1). If the link shown in figure 1 does not appear on the  

Live View page and a blue player window (with Extron logo) is displayed, it means that a version of VLC media player is 
already installed. Verify that the installed VLC media player is version 1.1.10. If version 1.1.10 is not installed, uninstall 
VLC media player and repeat this procedure.

  A yellow security bar may appear at the top of the browser window after the first

 link is clicked. If this 

happens, click the security bar and click 

Download File

, then click the first

 link again.

A File Download window appears. Click the 

Run

 button to download and start the VLC media player installation.  

Follow the directions on the remaining prompts to install the player.

NOTE:

  During installation of VLC media player, a Choose Components window will appear that contains a

After the VLC media player installation has finished, a reboot of the control PC or viewing device is recommended.

Access the web-based user interface (see the "

Accessing the Web-based User 

Interface

" section above). The Live View page should now contain a blue 

player window (with Extron logo). Click the 

Play

 icon to view a live stream.

NOTES:

 

  When a live stream is played, by default it uses the unicast RTP transport protocol. To change the transport 

protocol and other various settings on the SME 100, click on the 

Configuration

 tab, then click on the 

Encoder Settings

 link on the left sidebar.

 icon located in the upper right hand corner of the web page lists the licensed third-party 

software that is used by the SME 100 (see figure 2).
