9. Press the Enter key. The display will read
FASt
,
MEd
or
SLO
.
The Set-Pro is asking for the desired firing speed.
You are free to use any speed for any firing as you wish. However, Evenheat does recommend using Fast for glaze firings, Medium for both
glaze and bisque firings and Slow for bisque firings.
For a detailed explanation of the preset Ceramic Express Mode firing data please see the tables on page 17. These tables describe the various
temperature rates, temperature set points and hold times used in each of the firing speed selections.
Firing Speed choices are displayed as:
FASt
- Fast (Use for Glaze firings)
MEd
- Medium (Use for Both Glaze and Bisque Firings)
SLO
– Slow (Use for Bisque Firings)
10. Use the Up or Down arrow keys to select your desired firing speed.
11. Press the Enter key. The display will read
HLd
.
The Set-Pro is asking if you would like to hold or soak your ceramic at final temperature for a period of time.
You may find benefit in adding a bit of hold time to the final temperature. Perhaps you’re finding that your ceramic ware is almost, but not
quite mature. Adding a few minutes of hold to the final temperature is valid way increasing the heatwork, and thus maturity to your ceramic
ware. Keep in mind that values to the left of the decimal point are in hours and values to the right of the decimal point are in minutes.
If you choose to not add any hold time at final temperature simply select 00.00 as your hold time.
12. Use the Up and Down arrow keys to choose your desired hold time.
13. Press the Enter key. The display will display
rEDI
(Ready). You have successfully programmed your Ceramic Express Mode Program.
14. Press the Enter key to begin the firing. The Set-Pro Ceramic Express Mode program you created is now running and firing the kiln.
When the firing is complete the display alternates between
CPLt
and total firing time. Pressing the Start/Stop key at this point will cause the display to
briefly read
StOP
and then
IdLE
.
The Set-Pro automatically stops running the firing program once complete. However, you may always stop a firing in progress, at any time, by pressing the
Start/Stop key.
StOP
is displayed briefly and then
IdLE
.
Ceramic Express Mode Firing Data Tables
The Ceramic Express Mode uses preset firing data to fire your ceramic. You will find the actual, preset firing data used in the Ceramic Express Mode
programs on page 17 of this manual.
Ceramic Express Mode Cone Chart
Cones, or more precisely, pyrometric cones, measure “heatwork”. Heatwork is a combination of temperature and time. As the Set-Pro controls the speed
of the firing along with the final temperature it will create the conditions needed to achieve proper ceramic maturity.
We have included a cone chart, found on page 18, which identifies each cone along with its final firing temperature used by the Set-Pro. This chart is based
on a temperature rate (used at the end of the firing) of 108°F per hour.
