FireBox garden wood burner
Make the long, light summer evenings even longer and
warmer with a cosy garden wood burner around which
to gather. With its simple, stylish design, the FireBox
garden wood burner hardly takes up any space at all. The
integrated wood holder means that wood is always to
hand, and the built-in chimney channels the smoke out
of the back of the wood burner to avoid irritating fumes.
The FireBox garden wood burner is easy to maintain.
Wash with water. Can be left outdoors all year. The
garden wood burner is supplied fully assembled. Made of
corten steel. Dimensions: H 125 x W 43 x D 37.5 cm.
FireBox is made of corten steel. The steel is of high
quality and with exceptional weathering resistance.
The steel has been treated in a way that initiates the
natural process of surface corrosion. This ensures that
the product does not rust through. The garden wood
burner naturally takes on a golden rusty colour and
will continue to patinate beautifully as it is exposed
to the wind, weather and use. This also means that
variations in colour and surface patterns will occur and
continually develop, especially due to the impact of
high temperatures during use.
The outer rust layer is extremely stable and does not
smear like other types of rust. However, minor stains or
rust leaching will occur.
FireBox garden wood burner user instructions
These instructions contain important information and
warnings. Inexpert or careless use of open fire in
general can, like incorrect handling of the garden wood
burner, pose considerable risk to people and property.
It is therefore important that you take the time to
carefully read all the instructions before use.
Setting up
Unpack the FireBox garden wood burner and place on a
secure, firm and non-combustible surface, for example
paving stones. To increase the stability of the garden
wood burner, a peg or screw can be inserted in the
anchorage holes (5 mm) in the base plate of the wood
burner. Pegs/screws are not included. Make sure that
the wood burner is placed at a safe distance from all
combustible material such as hedges, fencing, trees
and parasols as well as masonry, as the heat from the
garden wood burner may cause discoloration. Also, do
not place the FireBox garden wood burner on a covered
patio, as it requires a well-ventilated space.
Lighting
When lighting a fire in the garden wood burner, it is
important to use dry, untreated wood and not to overfill
the combustion chamber. Woods such as birch, beech,
ash, elm and oak are all suitable as kindling. Layer the
kindling in the centre of the garden wood burner in a
criss-cross fashion, as if you were making an ordinary
fire. Place newspaper or a few fire-lighters in the
middle of the stack to start the fire.
To reduce particle emissions when lighting, you should
light the kindling from the top. This achieves the
highest possible temperature as quickly as possible, and
combustion is always cleanest at high temperatures.
Start by putting two pieces of firewood in the bottom,
and then place sticks of wood on top in layers with air
in between. Light the top of the pile, and allow the
flames to work their way downwards – like a candle.
Use small pieces of wood, so the fire can easily take
hold. Using very large pieces of wood or too much
wood can restrict the air supply.
