Configuration of the communication driver, using the example Siemens PLC
After the connect message, via a virtual
network card (TAP), your PC is participant in
the LAN of the Router where the PLC is
accessible.
Windows normally automatically recognizes
the path for routing an IP request. Use
„Ping“,
in order to test access to participants in the
VPN network.
In case of a SIMATIC connection, after
opening the SIMATIC Manager
(> version
5.3)
, set the PC/PD interface to OpenVPN
connection. All systems go!
All online functions are at your disposal.
NOTE: With some Ethernet participants, the func
tion „available participants“
can not be used!
All other functions are available.
In the case of MultiNAT
connections, the PLC’s Ethernet address has to be set
to the subnet of the VPN network in the hardware configurator.
Caution when transmitting system data! Should this take place using the
address of the VPN network, the PLC assumes this IP and is no longer
accessible in the local LAN.
