Using The Computer

Adding a Printer 2 - 29

Parallel Printer

This is still the most common type of printer.

Install Instructions:

1.

Set up the printer according to its instructions (unpacking, 
paper tray, toner/ink cartridge etc.).

2.

Attach the parallel cable to the printer.

3.

Connect the printer’s parallel cable to the parallel port at the 
rear of the computer (

see “Rear View” on page 1 - 22

).

4.

Turn ON the printer.

5.

Turn ON the computer.

6.

Windows 

(some operating systems may require a driver to rec-

ognize a parallel to USB adapter) will identify the printer and 
either load one of its own drivers or ask you to supply one. Fol-
low the on-screen instructions.
