With each transmission step of the outdoor sensor, the red LED (19) on the front side of
the outdoor sensor flashes briefly.
b) inserting batteries into the base station

Open the battery compartment of the base station by sliding the battery compartment cover
at the bottom in the direction indicated by the arrow.
-
Insert two batteries of type AA/mignon with correct polarity into the battery compartment
(observe po and negative/-). Close the battery compartment again.
-
Once the batteries are inserted, the base station briefly shows all display segments and a beep
is audible. If only unintelligible symbols appear on the display, press the “RESET“ button (16),
for example using a toothpick.
You may also remove the batteries for a few seconds and then insert them again.
c) searching for available outside sensors
-
After inserting the batteries, the base station automatically begins to search for the signal of
an available outside sensor. The search lasts approx. 5 minutes.
During this time, do not move the base station and the outdoor sensor or press any buttons.
-
The reception symbol (8) for the DCF signal flashes when the search is complete. The base
station now begins to search for the DCF signal to set the time automatically; see next chapter.
d) dCF reception
The DCF signal is a signal broadcast from a transmitter in Main-
flingen (near Frankfurt/Main). Its range is up to 1500 km and, un-
der ideal reception conditions, even up to 2000 km.
Amongst others, the DCF signal contains information on the ex-
act time of day and the date (however, the base station can only
display the time).
Naturally, this also eliminates the hassle of manually setting up
summer and winter times.
-
After the base station has finished the search for the outdoor
sensor, it starts searching for the DCF signal, the reception symbol (6) flashes.
-
Do not place the base station next to electronic devices, metal parts, cables and so on. Also
expect poor signal strength where metallised insulating glass windows, reinforced concrete
constructions, coated special wallpaper is used or in basement rooms.
-
The recognition and interpretation of the DCF signal can take 6 minutes. Do not move the base
station during that time. Do not use any buttons.
After the base station has read the DCF signal correctly, the current time of the day is dis-
played and the reception symbol (8) stops flashing. During summer, “DST“ (= “Daylight Saving
Time“ = summer time) is shown to the left of the reception symbol (6).
The synchronisation of the base station and the DCF signal is done several times per day at
02:00, 08:00, 14:00 and 20:00. One successful reception attempt per day is enough to keep
the deviation of the internal clock below one second.

If no current time is shown on the base station‘s display after about 6 minutes, move the base
station to a different site.
Then press the “RCC“ button (17) for a short duration to restart the DCF reception attempt.
Alternatively, the time can be set manually on the base station.
-
The weather station is then ready to use
e) installation/positioning
Before mounting the outdoor sensor stationary, you should ensure that the base station
receives the radio signal from the outdoor sensor without failure.
-
The outdoor sensor can be mounted on the wall through its rear opening (21) using a nail,
screw or hook. Alternatively, you can place it on an even surface.
The outdoor sensor is suitable for use in protected outdoor areas. It should be placed in such
a way that it is not exposed to sunlight; otherwise, incorrect measurement values may be the
result. Precipitation falling on the outdoor sensor will also lead to false measurement values,
since this cools the housing. Never dip the outdoor sensor in or under water; this will destroy
it!
Therefore, we recommend you choose the installation place carefully so that the outdoor sen-
sor measures the correct temperature.

The base station can be placed on an eve, stable surface. Protect valuable furniture surfaces
by using a suitable mat to prevent scratches.
Select a place that is not exposed to sunlight or in direct vicinity to a radiator. This will cause
an inaccurate temperature reading.
oPeration
a) manually initiating the dCF signal reception attempt
-
Press the “RCC“ button (17) for a short duration to restart the DCF reception attempt.
The DCF reception symbol (8) on the display flashes. The reception attempt lasts for approx. 6
minutes, do not move the base station during this time, and do not press any button.
Do not place the base station next to electronic devices, metal parts, cables and so on.
Also expect poor signal strength where metallised insulating glass windows, reinforced
concrete constructions, coated special wallpaper is used, or in basement rooms.

If the DCF reception is impossible at the location of the base station, set the time manually.
To do this, switch off the DCF receiver by holding the “RCC“ button (17) pressed for at least 3
seconds. The DCF reception symbol (8) disappears.
To re-activate the DCF reception, briefly press the “RCC“ button (17) once. This will start a new
DCF signal reception attempt, see above.
b) manually starting the search for outdoor sensors
-
On the base station, briefly press the “SENSOR“ button (12), the reception symbol (6) flashes.
-
The base station now searches for available outdoor sensors (one sensor is included in the de-
livery, up to two sensors can be ordered separately as accessories). This search lasts 5 minutes;
during that time, do not press any buttons at the base station and do not move it.
If more than one outdoor sensor is used, each sensor must be linked to a different trans-
mission channel. To do this, use the slide switch (22) inside the battery compartment of
the outdoor sensor.
If the outdoor sensor is not found (only dashes are shown in the display for the outdoor sen-
sor), decrease the distance between outdoor sensor and base station, select a different instal-
lation location; refer to the chapter “Range”.
-
If you want to switch off the receiver for the outdoor sensor, hold the “SENSOR“ button (12)
pressed for at least 3 seconds, the reception symbol (6) disappears. The measurement values
of the outdoor sensor a no longer received.
To switch the receiver on, simply press the “SENSOR“ button (12) briefly, the base station now
searches for available outdoor sensors, see above.
c) setting 12h/24h format for the time and the time zone
-
To start the settings mode, hold the “DISPLAY SET“ button (14) pressed for about 3 seconds
until “12“ or “24“ flashes in the display.
-
Use the “CH +“ button (10) or the “MEM -“ button (15) to toggle between the 12h and the 24h
mode.
In the 12h mode, “AM“ is displayed during the time before noon to the left of the time, and “PM“
during the afternoon.

Briefly press the “DISPLAY SET“ button (14) and the hours of the time start flashing.
-
Set the hours by pressing the “CH +“ button (10) or the “MEM -“ button (15). For quick adjust-
ment, hold the corresponding button for a little longer.

Briefly press the “DISPLAY SET“ button (14) and the minutes of the time start flashing.
-
Set the minutes by pressing the “CH +“ button (10) or the “MEM -“ button (15). For quick adjust-
ment, hold the corresponding button for a little longer.

Briefly press the “DISPLAY SET“ button (14) and the seconds of the time start flashing.
-
Briefly press the “CH +“ button (10) or the “MEM -“ button (15) to set the seconds to “00“.
-
Briefly press the “DISPLAY SET“ button (14) and the time zone starts flashing.
-
Set the time zone b23 and -23 by pressing the “CH +“ button (10) or the “MEM -“ but-
ton (15). For quick adjustment, hold the corresponding button for a little longer.
-
Exit the settings mode, by briefly pressing the “DISPLAY SET“ (14) button. Afterwards, the time
of day is displayed again.
The settings mode can be exited at any time by holding the “DISPLAY SET” button (14)
pressed for 3 seconds. The settings are saved.
The same applies when you do not press any button for 1 minute. This will also exit the
settings mode and the last settings are saved.
d) switching between 12h/24h format
Please proceed as described under c).
The reception symbol (8) for the DCF signal disappears when the settings mode is started. It re-
appears when the base station successfully made a reception attempt (at 02:00, 08:00, 14:00 and
20:00). The set 12h/24h mode is maintained.
e) setting the time zone
Please proceed as described under c).

appears when the base station successfully made a reception attempt (at 2:00, 8:00, 14:00 and
20:00). The set time zone is maintained.
f) alarm function
Viewing the alarm time

Briefly press the “ALARM SET“ button (9) to display the alarm time, “AL“ will be shown to the
right of the time of day.

To return to the time display, wait for a few seconds without pressing a button.

When the alarm time is displayed, briefly press the “ALARM SET“ button (9) to switch the
alarm function on or off.

When the alarm function is switched on, a small bell symbol “
” is shown above “AL”.

If the alarm time is shown, hold the “ALARM SET“ button (9) pressed for about 3 seconds until
the hours of the alarm time are flashing. Then, release the button again.

Set the hours of the alarm time by pressing the “CH +“ button (10) or the “MEM -“ button (15).
For a quick adjustment, hold the corresponding button for a longer period of time.

Briefly press the “ALARM SET“ button (9) and the minutes of the alarm time start flashing.

If the alarm time is set, the alarm function is automatically switched on.
enabling the snooze function and/or exiting the alarm

At the set alarm time, the alarm signal is activated and the bell symbol “
“ flashes.

When the “SNOOZE/LIGHT“ button (13) is pressed, the alarm signal will be halted for 5 min-
utes. The bell symbol “
“ flashes during this time.
Afterwards, the alarm signal will restart.
This process may be repeated several times in a row.

In order to end the alarm signal (or the snooze mode) briefly press the “ALARM SET“ button
(9).
The alarm signal is terminated automatically after approx. 2 minutes if no button is
pressed.
The alarm signal is activated again at the set time the next day.
g) toggling the outdoor sensors

If you are using more than one outdoor sensor with your base station, briefly press the “CH +“
button (10) to toggle between the outdoor sensors. The respective sensor number (2) is shown
in the display.

If you want the outdoor sensor to be toggled automatically, hold the “CH +“ button (10) pressed
for 3 seconds. Each channel is then displayed for a few seconds before changing over to the
next channel automatically.
To deactivate the automatic changeover, briefly press the “CH +“ button (10).
h) switching between temperature units °C/°F
With the slide switch “°C °F” (11), you can switch between the temperature units °C (degrees Cel-
sius) and °F (degrees Fahrenheit).
i) displaying maximum/minimum values
The base station saves extreme values for indoor and outdoor temperature. Briefly press the
“MEM -” button (15) several times to switch between the following displays:

Maximum value (“MAX“ on display)

Minimum value (“MIN“ on display)

Current measurement values
The display of maximum and minimum values automatically changes back to the display
of current values after 5 seconds if no button is pressed.
