DISPOSAL OF PACKAGING

INTENDED USE

The packaging of your high-quality ETHERMA

product is made from recyclable materials.

•  The frost protection cable for pipelines

includes an automatic thermostat which on

the one hand switches on the heating cable

once it registers a (drop in) temperature to

approximately 3 °C, and on the other hand

switches off the heating cable once it regis-

ters a (rise in) temperature to approximately

9 °C. It is therefore not necessary to check

the cable.

•  We recommend switching off the heating

cable in summer (unplug the transformer).

•  We recommend inspecting the heating cable

immediately prior to the cold season and/

or winter for any signs of damage, as well

as the relevant mains power supply, in order

to ensure its proper operation, provided that

the heating cable is not damaged and it is

ready for operation once it is connected to

the power supply.

•  The frost protection cable may only be used

to provide frost protection for metal wa-

ter pipelines with a maximum diameter of

38 mm.

•  The heating cable must not come into con-

tact with itself, cross or overlap at any point.

This will cause the cable to overheat.

•  The length of the heating cable must not be

altered. Shortening the cable poses a risk of

overheating, while extending it means that it

will no longer generate the necessary heat.

Any attempt to physically modify the heating

cable will void the warranty. Once the heat-

ing cable is damaged, it cannot be repaired.

•  If the heating cable becomes stiff (due to the

cold weather), first unwind it and connect

it to a transformer for a couple of minutes

until it is warm and flexible before installing

it on the pipeline. Never insert the trans-

former with the heating cable connected into

the power socket when the cable is wound

up; this will cause the cable to overheat

at points where it comes into contact with

itself, and melt the outer insulation.

•  Do not install the heating cable on pipelines

which heat to temperatures exceeding 66 °C,

such as steam pipes; high temperatures of

this kind will damage the cable.

•

To prevent fires, the heating cable must be

kept at least 13 mm away from any flamma

-

ble material (including flammable insula

-

tion).

•  Never use mineral wool or foam insulation

more than 13 mm thick. Excessive heating

cable insulation will lead to overheating. En-

sure that the insulation is fire-resistant.

•  The heating cable must be protected against

damage (for example by gnawing animals,

discharge from lawnmowers, snow clearing,

falling icicles, etc.).

•  Do not wind the cable; it must remain ex-

tended along the entire length of the pipe.

•  The heating cable must not be immersed in

liquids.

•  If the mains power cable of the unit is dam-

aged, this must be replaced by the manufac-

turer, a service agent or a similarly qualified

individual in order to avoid hazards.
