• It is inevitable that impurities will get into the air

fi

 lter. That is why

it is essential that you regularly remove the cartridge of the air filter
for cleaning (every 25 hours or more often in dusty conditions).

PKCTM

(PICTURE 21)

• Unscrew the cover (A) of the air filter (see 1 picture 21) and remove

it (see 2 picture 21).

• Carefully remove all the paper cartridge with the pre

fi

 lter (B) (see

3 picture 21).

• Clean the inside of the lid (A) and the base (C) of the air

fi

 lter.

• Remove the foam pre

fi

lter (B1) from the paper cartridge (B2).

• Clean the paper cartridge (B2) by gently tapping it on a

fl

 at surface. Do

not use solvent and do not use compressed air, as they could damage
the cartridge.

• Do not oil the cartridge. Replace it if worn or dirty, every 50 hours

or at least once a year.

•  Wash the foam pre

fi

lter (B1) in detergent and water and dry

completely before reinstalling it in the paper cartridge.

• Reinstall the new or cleaned cartridge (B) on its base (C) (see 4 picture

21).

• Replace the cover (A) of the air

fi

lter and screw it in (see 5 picture

21).

 (PICTURE 21A)

• Remove the air

fi

 lter cover (A) by

fi

 rst unhooking the two upper

strips (B1) located on the air

fi

lter cover and then the two lower strips

(B2).

• Remove the

fi

lter element (C). Carefully check that it is not punctured

or torn, and replace it if necessary.

• Gently tap the item several times on a hard surface in order to drop

the excess dirt or carefully send compressed air from the inside to
the outside of the filter (D). Never attempt to remove the dirt with
a brush; brushing will force dirt into the

fi

 bres. Replace the element

(C) if excessively dirty.

• Put back the element (C) and the cover (A) of the air filter.

FLYWHEEL BRAKE INSPECTION (PICTURE
22)

Check the

fl

ywheel brake lever clearance. If it is less than 2 mm, take

the engine to an authorized dealer.

SPARK PLUG (PICTURE 23)

To ensure proper engine operation, the spark plug should not show
any deposit, and it must have a proper electrode gap.

 A dirty spark

plug can lead to difficulty with starting and a constant loss of engine
power.

Do not hesitate to change a worn spark plug when necessary.

Use only ETESIA original spark plugs.
Always use a spark plug with the right thermal value.

• Clean the spark plug hole and remove it with a spark plug wrench

(A). If the engine has just stopped running, the muffler is very hot.
Be careful not to touch it.

• Visually inspect the spark plug and discard it if the electrodes are

worn or if the insulator is cracked or chipped. If reused, clean the
spark plug with a wire brush.

• Clean the electrodes every 50 (PKCTM) / 100 (PHCS - PHCT) hours

or at least once a year.

• Measure the electrode gap with a feeler gauge. If necessary, correct it

by bending the side electrode. The distance (B) must be 0.7 - 0.8 mm.

• Replace the spark plug every 100 (PKCTM) / 250 (PHCT - PHCS)

hours of operation or every season as appropriate.

• Make sure that the spark plug washer is in good condition and screw

the spark plug by hand (C) to prevent cross threading.

• After putting the spark plug in place, tighten it with a spark plug

wrench to compress the washer.

• When installing a new spark plug, tighten 1/2 turns after it touches

the washer to compress it. To install a used spark plug, tighten 1/8 -
1/4 turns after it touches the washer to compress it.

TORQUE: 20 Nm

The spark plug should be tightened properly. When the plug
is loose, it risks getting very hot and damaging the engine.

CARBURETTOR, COOLING SYSTEM

• Regularly remove grass cuttings from the ventilation grid around the

starter unit.

• Clear the cooling

fi

ns and around the engine of any accumulations

of grass.

• This way you will ensure that your engine is constantly and ef

fi

 ciently

kept cool.

• The accumulation of debris around the muffler can cause fire. Check

and clean before each use.

• The throttle, the springs and the control linkage must be kept perfectly

clean.

Do not modify the regulator springs, rods or other parts
to increase the engine speed. Operate the engine at the
recommended speed.

TRANSPORT

If the machine has to be raised or transported, turn off the
motor. Allow it to cool for at least 15 minutes before loading
the mower into a vehicle. By precaution, disconnect the
spark plug cover.

Never transport the mower with petrol in the tank or with the
petrol tap open. The mower must be kept horizontal.

It is advisable to use a loading ramp or to have somebody help you
load and unload the mower.

QUICK HANDLE FOLDING

To reduce the mower space requirement in order to make storage easier,
the handle has to be folded.

• Remove the grass collector.
• Loosen the wing nuts and spread the bolts on the handlebar.
• Fold the handlebar forward, accompanying its movement (see picture 1).
