Ex barriers for fire detectors series IQ8Quad Ex (i)
Purpose
The Ex barrier (Part No. 764744-Zener barriers, not dry contact) and (Part No. 804744 dry
contact) is used for installation of Ex (i) zones in combination with fire detectors series
IQ8Quad Ex (i). The barrier separates inherently safe from non inherently safe circuits outside
the explosive hazard area (Ex zone).
Part No.
Accessories
764752
Housing (IP 66) for max. 10 barriers (Part No. 764744) or 8 barriers
(Part No. 804744) incl. equipotential bonding system connection clips
764754
Cable gland (blue) for housing (Part No. 764752)
764745
Isolation- and mounting terminal,
required, if the potential equalisation must not be done via the C-profile rack
•
Depending on the used cables and the conditions in the Ex area of
zone 1, zones with fire detectors series IQ8Quad Ex (i) may be connected to
this barrier.
•
Max. number of detectors on the FACP IQ8Control / FlexES control
Î
max. 8
fire detectors per zone with barrier (Part No. 764744).
•
Max. number of detectors on the FACP IQ8Control / FlexES control
Î
max. 10
fire detectors per spur with barrier (Part No. 804744).
9.1 Mounting
information
•
Observe category, area and temperature classifications.
•
Observe the system limits for the maximum permitted number of detectors and the cable
specifications.
•
Study and follow the installation and operating instructions for the automatic fire detector
and the fire detector base.
•
Observe ambient temperature or temperature range of used detector types.
•
Use cable I-Y (St) Y n x 2 x 0,8 mm with special designation or fire detection cable!
The shielding must be connected for EMI protection of the communication cable!
•
The automatic fire detectors and fire detector bases may not be installed in areas with
atmospheres containing benzene, acetic acid or esters as the ABS plastic of the housing is
not resistant to these chemicals.
•
Secure and intrinsically safe areas are electrically isolated from each other by the
Ex barrier (Part No. 804744); Therefore a connection to the equipotential bonding is not
required.
•
The cable shieldings of the intrinsically safe areas must be connected to the equipotential
bonding of the corresponding Ex area.
