ESBE ACTUATOR SERIES ALC
Art.Nr. 9814 02 01 Ritn.Nr. 6120 utg C Rev. 0609
Mounting positions
All mounting positions are allowed except when the actuator is under the valve
body.
In applications having medium temperatures above 80 ºC it is recommended to
use thermal insulating around the pipes. Fix the valve and actuator horizontally
out from the pipe.
Never exceed the maximal ambient temperature, -5 to 55°C, of the actuator!
Assembly
No tools or assembly kits are necessary when mounting the actuator to the valve.
Follow the following sequence when mounting the actuator on the valve.
• Make sure the actuator stem and valve thread is well
cleaned
from dust and
other particles.
• By turning the hand wheel on the actuator put the actuator stem in the
upper
end position
.
• Put the yoke of the actuator on the valve guide and
tighten the cap nut
firmly.
When tightened firmly the actuator cannot be turned on the valve body.
Manual operation
The actuators are equipped with a hand wheel as standard enabling manual op-
eration. By lifting the hand wheel a mechanical gearing disconnects and then the
actuator can be easily manually operated.
The actual position of the valve plug is indicated on the stroke indicator placed on
the actuators yoke.
! Only use the hand wheel when the power supply is disconnected.
! After releasing the hand wheel and reconnecting the power supply actuators
with a proportional control will carry out a self-adaptation stroke.
Setting
No setting is necessary when mounting the actuator to the valve body. Thanks
to a direct scanning of output force, actuators end positions are set automatically
according to the valves limit positions.
For actuators with proportional control (ESBE part no 2210 03 00), a self-adaptive
function is started automatically when connecting the power supply. The function
makes a full stroke of the valve to calibrate the control limits. After the self-adap-
tive function is finished the actuator begins to follow the control signal.
Such a calibration is also carried out after power supply failures longer than 24
hours and at anytime after lifting up or using of the hand wheel.
Maintenance
The actuator is maintenance free.
Electrical connection
Note! Before making any change or alteration in the connections remove the
supply voltage!
The connection terminals are found under the cover.
The actuators are supplied with a 1,5 m standard connection cable. However a
shielded connection cable is recommended on actuators with proportional control
0 – 10 V in cases of a harsh electric environment or with long distance connection.
Keep the connection cable away from hot pipes!
The actuator can be converted from 0-10 V voltage control signal to 0-20 mA
control signal by moving the white conductor from terminal 4 to terminal 5.
All connections must correspond to appropriate standards and shall be carried
out by authorized personnel only!
Make sure that the feeding voltage values correspond to the values indicated on
the actuator!
