The direction of the signal flow (l/O) is as viewed from the printer.
l
Return denotes the twisted pair return and is to be connected at signal ground level. For interface
wiring, be sure to use a twisted-pair cable for each signal and always complete the connection on
the return side. To prevent noise, cables should be shielded and connected to the chassis of the
host computer and the printer, respectively.
l
All interface conditions are based on the
level. Both the rise and fall times of each signal
must be less than 0.2
l
Data transfer to this printer can be carried out only after confirming the -ACKNLG signal or when
the level of the BUSY signal is LOW.
l
If the proper character codes are sent over the DATA 1 to 8 lines of the interface connector (open
should be “1” and short to GND should be “0”) and the ACKNLG pin is connected to the STROBE
pin, test printing (including the interface circuit) can be performed without external equipment.
l
A short interface cable is recommended to reduce noise.
l
