9. Operation modes
Steamtec II Basic steam generator features 4 operation modes which allow to adjust the steam
production to the individual operation conditions.
Operation mode 1 (default)
All heating elements, unless they are disabled with the appropriate fuse (F1-F6), will be switched
on if there is a control signal on the input terminals Wb and S1. If there is no control signal on the
input terminal Wb, the heating elements will be switched off.
This mode is default from factory. In this mode the generator is fully controlled by a switching
signal from an external control unit. You can return to this mode at any time if the generator has
been re-programmed to an other mode. To set the steam generator to mode 1:
•
Switch the steam generator off (disconnect from power completely)
•
Set the jumper JP2 to “E” position (see pic. 10)
•
Switch the power supply to the steam generator
•
The status LED on the main board shall flash 9 times
•
Switch the steam generator off (disconnect power)
•
Set the jumper JP2 back to “A” position and switch the power supply
on again.
Operation mode 2
If there is no input switching signal on the terminal Wb for 4 hours the
system considers the steam room / sauna are not in use and are cooled
down. If now a switching signal is given to the terminal Wb all enabled
heating elements will start to heat until the temperature set-point has
been reached. Once the set-point has been reached the steam gener-
ator continues to heat with 1 - 3 heating elements (1 element only by
Steamtec II Basic 9 kW). This helps to ensure a more continuous steam
production.
To set the steam generator to mode 2:
•
Switch the steam generator off (disconnect from power completely)
•
Set the jumper JP2 to “B” position
•
Switch the power supply to the steam generator
•
The status LED on the main board shall flash 6 times
•
Switch the steam generator off (disconnect power)
•
Set the jumper JP2 back to “A” position and switch the power supply on again.
Operation mode 3 (continuous steam)
If an external switching signal is given the steam generator it will start to heat with all enabled
heating elements until the temperature reaches the set-point. Once the set-point has been
reached the steam generator continues to heat with 1 - 3 heating elements (1 element only by
Steamtec II Basic 9 kW). By Steamtec II Basic 18 kW it is possible to reduce the heating power dur-
ing this phase to 6 or 3 kW by switching off fuses F2 and F3. By Steamtec II Basic 9 kW the basic
power is always 3 kW only.
The basic power for this continuous steam production shall be selected so that the room temper-
ature should not exceed the upper hysteresis point and the safety limit of 50°C.
