VH-8G

Backbone Consolidation Application

The VH-8G switch can be used in a backbone consolidation application, 

connecting network switches together and providing file-server access 

(Figure 1-4). Workgroup switches are provided with a single connection 

to the VH-8G while servers are put on dedicated ports. The gigabit fiber 

links allow the switch to connect to a remote location, such as another 

building floor or a separate building.
