Heater Control Unit

The heater control unit (HCU-0001) is fail-safe (redundantly) constructed. It switches the probe heater automatically
when exceeding the operating temperature of the probe. The switch-off temperature is set at 810°C / 1490°F. Beyond
that, the heating is switched off if the temperature difference between the two redundant thermocouples rises up
above 10°C / 18°F. The electronic unit goes into self-preservation mode. This means that with the occurrence of a
disturbance the electronic unit must be reset by powering off the system and switching it back on. The disturbances
are signalled by red LEDs on the plate. The green LED signals the error free operating condition.
The lighting up of LED 3 signals, with each restart of the system, as well as with the first start-up, the electronic unit
must be reset by powering off the system and switching it back on.

The front plate has a peephole with the marking "HCU LED".
Whenever one of the red LEDs is lit, the heater is not in working order.
Power off the system and switch it back on to remedy this error.
