Group VERIFICATION TRANSMITTER
In the VERIFICATION TRANSMITTER group, a measuring device can be checked for the following
characteristic values:
• Functionality and deviation in the flow measurement (based on the set point preset by Fieldcheck)
• Functionality and deviation of the current output and optional pulse output if these outputs are
available in the measuring device. The specified set points correspond in the gradation to the
measuring points when determining flow.
Fieldbus outputs such as PROFIBUS or FOUNDATION FIELDBUS cannot be directly checked by
Fieldcheck.
!
Note!
The device can be tested at its mounting location; power is supplied by the switching unit
connected to the current output. In order to test the current output for accuracy at the mounting
location, it must be disconnected from the switching unit and connected to the Fieldcheck
current input.
• Functionality and deviation in temperature measurement.
Verification of transmitter
Checking the linearity of the amplifier:
Simulated flow at four measuring points which are determined via the 100% full scale value (for a
presumed fluid velocity of 8 m/s for liquids and 60 m/s for gases/steam).
Checking a current output:
The current output can be verified in the configuration in the measuring device (CURRENT RANGE
function (4-20 mA)) in the same gradation (5% to 100%) as the amplifier. For this purpose, the
current output must be directly connected to the current input of Fieldcheck.
Checking the frequency/pulse output:
The frequency/pulse output can be operated in the following ways in Prowirl 7x-type devices:
• Frequency (only Prowirl 73)
• Pulse
• VORTEX
• PFM (pulse/frequency modulation)
Fieldcheck can verify the output in the configuration available in the measuring device. For this
purpose, the output must be directly connected to the frequency input of Fieldcheck.
Checking the temperature input (Prowirl 73 only):
Four specified temperature ranges can be simulated by Fieldcheck (–40°C, +15°C, +180°C,
+280°C).
Sensor test
The data from the device's internal test for the measuring device pre-amplifier are recorded,
evaluated and documented for this test.
The test comprises the following steps:
• Sensor voltage 1
• Sensor voltage 2
• Difference between voltages
These variables are evaluated in Fieldcheck according to specified limit values.
