For a reliable measurement with Pitot tubes, the practical limits are shown in the table below.

Alignment of the Pitot tube
Align the head of the sensor so that the arrow labeled "flow" on the head is in the direction of the
flow in the pipe to within the following limits:

A: Axial alignment;
B: Radial alignment;
C: Alignment in the flow direction (for horizontal pipes)
D: Alignment in the flow direction (for vertical pipes)
