Question
Answer
Why can I not see the main menu?
1. Ensure that the AV OUT on the N100 plugs into the video input on the TV
2. Ensure that the AV IN on the N100 plugs into the video output on your video source
(VCR, DVD player, cable box, etc.)
3. If you are using an S-Video cable, you need to go to settings, video input, and select
S-Video
4. Set your TV to the right video input channel (input 1, video 1, etc.). Do this by
pressing TV/Input on your TV remote until you see the N100 main menu
Why is my image flickering or
scrolling up and down?
You may be in the incorrect NTSC/PAL/SECAM mode. The Emtec N100 supports
NTSC and PAL standards, and SECAM video input. To correct this:
1. Disconnect the power from the N100 and reconnect it
2. Wait for 3 minutes while it powers up
3. After 3 minutes, press the NTSC/PAL button 1 time
4. Press the right arrow button one time
5. Press the enter button 1 time
Why doesn’t the N100 recognize
my hard drive?
The N100 supports FAT32 drives. If your drive is not formatted to FAT32, you will
need to do so.
Please note that, by default, Windows cannot format drives greater than 32GB to
FAT32.
Why doesn’t the N100 recognize
my storage card?
As with hard drives, the card must be preferably formatted to FAT32.
How long can the N100 record for?
Why is there a gap in recording near
4 hours?
The N100 will record until there is no more available space on the storage device.
Once the recording reaches 4 hours or 4 GB, it will finalize your file and start a new
file. While finalizing, recording will not occur.
Are recordings compatible
with PCs?
Yes, the recordings can be viewed and edited on Windows, Mac OS X, and Linux
PCs.
My storage Device is not detected
If your storage device is not detected, just press on the Home Button of the Return
button on the remote to get back to the Main Menu. Once there, select Play.Browse
to see if your device is displayed. If not, remove the device and reinsert it and repeat
the above if it is not displayed after a couple of seconds. If it is still not visible, try
to Reboot the N100 with the card or USB device connected. If all attempts fail, your
device might not be formatted with FAT 32 (required to use with the N100) or it could
also be corrupted.
