TROUBLESHOOTING
Symptom
Solution
No or low irrigation flow
• Check if the instrument is blocked. Blow compressed air through the instrument to unblock it
• Use another handpiece to check if the handpiece is blocked
• If the obstruction cannot be removed, the handpiece must be sent to an approved EMS repair center
• Please refer to the operation instructions of the unit for more details
No ultrasound oscillations
• Please refer to the operation instructions of the unit
Decreasing or reduced
performance
• Follow the instructions found in the operation instructions of the Piezon unit
• Make sure that the instrument is properly positioned, tighten it again with the CombiTorque
• Check the instrument for wear and replace it if needed
• Try to use the handpiece with another instrument
• Send the handpiece and the instrument to an approved EMS repair center
Breakage of a file or instrument,
possibly inside the cavity or the
root canal
• Make sure that every broken part is located
•
Compare total length of the broken parts with the length of a new file or instrument to make sure that all broken parts
are present
•
Try to remove broken parts inside the root canal by activating maximum irrigation (no ultrasound) on a file to attempt
to force the debris out
• Refer to instructions and use the RT2, RT3 and RT4 instruments that are specially designed for this application
Diamond-coated instruments
become less effective
• Visually check the condition of the diamond coating and replace the instrument if needed
Instrument tends
to accumulate heat
•
Check that the irrigating liquid flow rate is not too low; increase the flow rate to the maximum
•
See recommendations for low liquid flow situation in the operation instructions of the unit
The handpiece does not remain
on the magnetic support
• Check / replace the seal at the support base
• Install the magnetic support on a metallic part of the unit
• The support is demagnetized and need to be replaced
