Once the pipe and fitting have been installed a system
integrity test should be carried out in accordance with
current regulations prior to any permanent coverings
being applied.
6. Notes
• DO NOT exceed maximum recommended
operation time or number of presses for the
chosen press tool (refer to press tool instructions
for detail)
• DO NOT attempt to reuse a partially pressed fitting
• DO NOT attempt to modify or tamper with the
tooling or fittings
• DO check tools condition regularly and repair/
replace where necessary
• DO read this document carefully before carrying
out any works
• DO always keep tools, pipe and fittings stored in a
clean and dry environment
• DO protect fittings against corrosion when installed
in embedded screed or concrete
• DO ensure system compatibility with the GERPEX
System
• DO ensure EMMETI approved tooling and pressing
profiles are used at all times
• DO ensure that any press tools are calibrated
at recommended manufacturer intervals and by
approved test facilities.
5. Testing of the System
Gerpex Multi-Layer Pipe can also be used with
Emmeti developed compression fittings to connect
to heating or plumbing manifolds and also to
compression fittings including 15, 22 and 28mm
copper compression. These fittings enable the
installer to connect to tap connectors, isolation valves
and radiator valves or to transition onto copper pipe
with no requirement for hot works.
4.1 Preparation of Pipe
Pipe preparation is carried out in the same way for
compression as with press fittings. Please refer to
section 2.7 and 2.8
4.2 Pipe Connection
Once the pipe has been prepared it should be inserted
into the monoblocco fitting. Please ensure that pipe is
aligned and push onto fitting, do not turn on insertion
as this could potentially disturb or damage the double
O-ring. See fig 4.6
The pipe is clamped onto the brass insert of the
fitting by the split olive when tightened onto the
compression fitting as shown. Take care not to over
tighten the fitting onto the compression connection
as this could damage the O-ring seal on the face of
the fitting.
