Instructions specific to hazardous area installations
Model numbers covered: 7835**DBAK****, 7835**DBBK**** (“*” indicates options in construction, function and
materials). The following instructions apply to equipment covered by certificate numbers
Sira 09 ATEX1192 &
IECEx SIR 09.0071:
1.
The equipment may be used with flammable gases and vapours with apparatus groups IIA and IIB, and with
temperature classes T1, T2, T3, T4, T5, and T6.
Note:
The enclosure may be at the higher of the process
or ambient temperature.
2.
Installation of this equipment shall be carried out by suitably trained personnel, in accordance with the
applicable code of practice.
3.
Inspection and maintenance of this equipment shall be carried out by suitably trained personnel, in
accordance with the applicable code of practice.
4.
It is the responsibility of the user to ensure the voltage and current limits for this equipment are not
exceeded.
5.
No maintenance or repair of the flameproof enclosure is permitted.
6.
The enclosure must not be opened when a flammable atmosphere is present, even when the equipment has
been electrically isolated.
7.
The certification of this equipment relies upon the following materials used in its construction:
Body:
1.4404 stainless steel, Alloy C22, Alloy C276, or Duplex S31803.
Wetted parts:
1.4404 stainless steel, 1.4404 stainless steel and NI-SPAN-C
®
alloy 902, Alloy C22, or
1.4404 stainless steel and Alloy C22.
Housing and cover: Aluminium alloy.
If the equipment is likely to come into contact with
aggressive substances
, it is the responsibility of the user
to take
suitable precautions
that prevent it from being adversely affected, thus ensuring that the type of
protection is not compromised.
Aggressive substances:
e.g., acidic liquids or gases that may attack metals or solvents that may
affect polymeric materials.
Suitable precautions:
e.g., regular checks as part of routine inspections or establishing from the
material’s data sheet that it is resistant to specific chemicals.
Note:
The metallic alloy used for the enclosure material may be at the accessible surface of this equipment;
in the event of rare accidents, ignition sources due to impact and friction sparks could occur.
The NI-SPAN-C
®
alloy 902 wet-side is not suitable for hydrocarbon “sour service," as defined in
NACE specification MR0175-2000.
8.
This equipment is designed for operating in an environment where the potentially explosive atmosphere exists
intermittently (<1000 hours/annum). If this equipment is mounted in an environment where the hazard exists for
longer than this (i.e., a part-filled pipeline containing explosive vapours), then the equipment should be isolated.
9.
The equipment should be inspected regularly for corrosion and wear, both internal and external. The
equipment is not intended to be repaired by the user and is to be replaced by an equivalent certified unit.
Repairs should only be carried out by the manufacturer or approved repairer.
