sharing a file or folder
File sharing lets you use one computer in the network to access files that are
stored on another computer in the network. For example, you may want to store
your family pictures on the desktop computer, but be able to access and view
the pictures from your notebook.
To share files:
1. On the computer that’s storing the file (your desktop), enable sharing on
that file (or folder) by doing the following:
a. Through
My Computer
, locate the file (or folder) that you want to share.
b. Right-click the file (or folder) and select
Properties
.
c. Select
Sharing
,
,
and click
OK
.
Only the files marked for sharing can be accessed by other
computers on the network.
