DEFROSTING
Refrigerator compartment
The defrosting process is automatic and is controlled by the
thermostat. Water from defrosting collects in the drip tray and evaporates.
Freezer compartment (Elvita CKF2851V)
The freezer compartment requires manual
defrosting.
• Turn the thermostat dial to the OFF position and leave the freezer compartment door open.
• Move food, the ice tray and the shelf from the freezer compartment to the refrigerator com-
partment.
• Clean the freezer compartment and wipe up the residue from the defrosting with a cloth.
• After defrosting, turn the thermostat dial back to its original position.
Note: To prevent damage to the walls of the freezer compartment, do not use sharp objects to
remove ice or to separate packs of food.
INSTRUCTIONS FOR USE
To get the greatest possible benefit from the refrigerator, it is important that you use it correctly.
Temperature control
The controls for the refrigerator compartment and freezer compartment (Elvita CKF2851V)
are next to the shelf in the refrigerator compartment. When you install the refrigerator, set the
thermostat dial to 3. Allow the refrigerator to get to the correct temperature before putting food
inside. It is best to wait 24 hours before putting food inside.
Set the desired temperature with the thermostat dial. The higher the temperature you set, the
more the compressor has to work to maintain the temperature.
When the thermostat dial is in the OFF position, the refrigerator is not in operation.
Storing fresh food
Store food in the refrigerator in containers or wrapped in airtight material. This will stop the
odour and taste of the food spreading through the whole of the refrigerator.
Fruit
– wash, allow to dry and store in the refrigerator in plastic bags or the vegetable drawer.
Leaf vegetables
– remove packaging and any sharp/discoloured leaves. Rinse in cold water
and allow to drip dry. Put in a plastic bag or plastic container and store in the vegetable drawer.
Meat
– Meat is best stored in its original packaging, provided it is air and watertight.
Repackage as needed.
Left-overs
– Cover left-over food with plastic film or aluminium foil. Plastic containers with lids
giving a good seal can also be used.
Storage of frozen food
(Elvita CKF2851V)
The freezer compartment is intended for storing frozen food and for home freezing.
Successful freezing requires the correct packaging. Pack the food so that it is air and watertight.
Otherwise the odour and taste may spread throughout the refrigerator and frozen food may dry
out.
Note: Never put bottles of food or drink in the freezer compartment.
To achieve the best results, leave enough free space in the freezer compartment and
refrigerator compartment to allow air to circulate around the packs of food. Leave enough
free space to allow the door to be closed tight shut.
